Established in 1993 under the Archdiocese of Nairobi, Kwetu is a testament to the power of compassion and the resilience of the human spirit. Founded by Fr. Michael Meunier, a Missionary of Africa, this charitable institution began as a humble Care and Feeding Centre for street children. Over the decades, it has evolved into a comprehensive residential program dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and reintegrating street boys back into their families and communities.
A Life-Changing Rescue Mission: 35 Boys Rescued
On February 4th, 2025, Kwetu Home of Peace embarked on a transformative mission, rescuing 35 boys from the streets of Nairobi. These children, previously exposed to life-threatening conditions, have now found safety, care, and guidance within Kwetu’s walls. The Main House in Ruai, which can accommodate up to 120 boys, serves as a sanctuary where these boys receive spiritual formation, education, and the support needed to heal from the traumas of street life.
Kwetu operates three intakes annually, typically welcoming 20-25 boys each time. The recent rescue of 35 boys marks a significant milestone in Kwetu’s mission, underscoring the urgent need to address the plight of street children and offer them a path to a brighter future.
